Andhra Pradesh Set to Play Key Role in India’s High Speed Rail Future
Andhra Pradesh is expected to become one of the key states in India’s future High Speed Rail (HSR) network, with multiple proposed corridors planned to pass through several major cities and towns across the state.
The proposed high-speed rail corridors aim to improve connectivity between major metropolitan cities such as Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Amaravati while significantly reducing travel time.
Hyderabad–Amaravati–Chennai High Speed Rail Corridor
One of the major proposed corridors is the Hyderabad–Amaravati–Chennai High Speed Rail line, which will pass through multiple important locations in Andhra Pradesh.

- Kavali
- Nellore
- Gudur
- Tirupati Airport
This corridor is expected to strengthen connectivity between Andhra Pradesh’s capital region and major South Indian cities.
Bengaluru–Hyderabad High Speed Rail Corridor
Another important proposed route is the Bengaluru–Hyderabad High Speed Rail corridor, connecting Karnataka and Telangana through Rayalaseema region in Andhra Pradesh.

The project could improve transportation infrastructure and boost economic opportunities in Rayalaseema districts.
Mysore–Bengaluru–Chittoor–Chennai Corridor
In addition to the above routes, another proposed high-speed rail corridor connecting Mysore, Bengaluru, Chittoor, and Chennai is also expected to pass through Andhra Pradesh.
This further strengthens Andhra Pradesh’s position in India’s future high-speed transportation network.
