Andhra Pradesh Plans Dedicated Pharmacy University

Vizag Among 4 Shortlisted Locations

In a major step toward strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s growing pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and life sciences sectors, the state government is planning to establish a dedicated Pharmacy University.

According to initial proposals, four key locations have been shortlisted for the university:

• Visakhapatnam
• Anakapalli
• Amaravati
• Kurnool

The proposed institution aims to become a specialized hub for pharmaceutical education, advanced research, innovation, and skill development, helping Andhra Pradesh emerge as a stronger player in India’s healthcare and life sciences ecosystem.

Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli are considered strong contenders due to their existing pharma and industrial infrastructure, while Amaravati offers administrative significance and Kurnool provides regional development opportunities.

The establishment of this university is expected to:
