Vizag Steel Plant Tragedy Claims 8 Lives
A devastating industrial accident at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (RINL) has left the entire city in shock after at least eight workers lost their lives and several others sustained severe burn injuries on June 8, 2026. The tragedy occurred inside the Steel Melting Shop (SMS) unit during regular production operations.
What Happened At The Steel Plant?
According to preliminary reports, a ladle carrying molten steel at extremely high temperatures suffered a major failure, resulting in a sudden explosion and a massive spill of liquid metal. The molten steel spread across the work area, engulfing workers who were performing their duties nearby.
Reports indicate that the molten metal was being handled in the Steel Melting Shop facility when the accident occurred around 4:15 PM. The intense heat and resulting fire caused catastrophic injuries to workers at the site.
