Ministers Inspect Rushikonda Buildings in Vizag; Resort Continuation Under Consideration
A team of Andhra Pradesh ministers visited the controversial Rushikonda buildings in Vizag to inspect the infrastructure and discuss its future use. During the inspection, Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav made several important remarks regarding the project initiated during the previous government.
According to the minister, there is a growing proposal from various sections of society to continue the Rushikonda buildings in Vizag as a resort. He stated that many people have suggested maintaining the property for tourism purposes.
Allegations on Construction Expenditure
Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav alleged that the previous YSRCP government had misled the public regarding the construction of the Rushikonda project. He claimed that under the pretext of redeveloping a resort, nearly ₹500 crore was spent.
The minister cited several examples of what he termed excessive expenditure:
Cotton gauze reportedly costing ₹6,050
A bathroom spread over 450 square feet
Bathtubs costing around ₹12 lakh
Washroom fittings valued between ₹3 lakh and ₹4 lakh
These comments have once again sparked political debate over the Rushikonda buildings in Vizag and their intended purpose.
Future Plans for Rushikonda Buildings
The minister noted that maintenance costs of the buildings have become a burden. As a result, the government is exploring multiple options for their utilization.
Among the proposals under consideration are:
Continuing operations as a resort
Converting the premises into a wellness center
Inviting experienced project management groups within the next 10 to 15 days to submit proposals
The final decision on the future of the Rushikonda project in Vizag is expected after evaluating various suggestions and ensuring public benefit.
The Rushikonda issue remains a significant topic in Andhra Pradesh politics, with the future use of the premium beachfront property attracting considerable public attention.
