Andhra Pradesh HRD, IT, and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh visited the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram to review the final preparations for its grand inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 1, 2026.

During the inspection, the minister held a review meeting with public representatives, senior officials, and GMR Group representatives to ensure that every arrangement for the inaugural event is completed on time.

13,000 Tribal Artists to Perform Dhimsa Dance

One of the biggest highlights of the inauguration will be a massive Dhimsa tribal dance performance involving nearly 13,000 artists from North Andhra. The government aims to showcase the rich tribal culture of the region while also attempting to create a Guinness World Record.

The cultural event is expected to become one of the largest traditional dance performances ever organized in Andhra Pradesh.

Government Expects Three Lakh Visitors

Officials informed the minister that nearly 3 lakh people are expected to attend the inauguration ceremony and the public meeting. Nara Lokesh directed all departments to ensure smooth transportation, crowd management, parking, security, and public facilities for visitors.

Coalition leaders and district officials have been instructed to work in close coordination to guarantee a successful event.

Final Works Underway

Representatives of GMR Group and various government departments are working on a war footing to complete the remaining works at the airport. Landscaping, beautification, approach road flyovers, and other infrastructure are expected to be completed before the inauguration.
