Andhra Pradesh Gets ₹200 Crore for Sea Plane Tourism Under UDAN Scheme
Andhra Pradesh is set to witness a major tourism and connectivity boost as the Central Government approved ₹200 crore under the UDAN scheme for Sea Plane tourism services across the state. The project aims to improve tourism infrastructure and provide faster travel connectivity between some of the most scenic destinations in Andhra Pradesh.
According to reports, Sea Plane services are being planned at major tourist destinations including:
- Visakhapatnam
- Araku Valley
- Lambasingi
- Tirupati
- Vijayawada
- Srisailam
- Kakinada
- Suryalanka
- Gandikota
- Polavaram
The Andhra Pradesh government plans to use the allocated funds for establishing water aerodromes, floating jetties, passenger waiting areas, ticket counters, and related tourism infrastructure. Officials stated that approximately ₹20 crore will be spent at each selected destination to develop the required facilities.
How Sea Plane Tourism Will Help Andhra Pradesh
The new Sea Plane tourism project is expected to significantly improve tourism in Andhra Pradesh by offering unique aerial travel experiences across beaches, rivers, reservoirs, and hill stations. Destinations like Vizag, Araku, and Lambasingi could attract more domestic and international tourists once the services become operational.
The project is also expected to strengthen regional air connectivity under the Government of India’s UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) initiative, which focuses on improving affordable transportation and tourism infrastructure across the country.
Sea Plane Services Planned Between Major Tourist Locations
Reports suggest that the first Sea Plane route may connect Vijayawada and Srisailam by 2027. More routes connecting Vizag coastal areas, reservoir regions, and tourism hubs are expected in future phases.
This initiative could transform Andhra Pradesh tourism by introducing faster travel options and scenic air experiences for travelers visiting the state.
