Vizag Electoral Rolls Under Special Review
Visakhapatnam, October 9, 2026: Election authorities in Visakhapatnam have intensified scrutiny of electoral rolls as part of the ongoing revision process. Officials have been instructed to verify doubtful entries, examine discrepancies in voter details and ensure that deletions are carried out only after proper verification.
According to a report published on October 8, Visakhapatnam Roll Observer S. Bhargavi directed officials to conduct field-level checks of rejected applications and doubtful cases instead of relying only on records. Officials were also asked to ensure that information collected in the field matches the data entered in the ECINet system.
Door-to-Door Verification of Voter Details
Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been directed to undertake door-to-door verification wherever necessary. The exercise aims to establish whether voters continue to live at their registered addresses and to check discrepancies in their electoral details.
Officials have been asked to pay particular attention to areas showing unusually high numbers of additions or deletions, mismatched door numbers and changes in voter information. Pending inspections, application verification and additional scrutiny are also being prioritised.
Clear Reasons Required Before Deleting Names
Election officials have been instructed to record a clear reason before deleting any voter’s name from the electoral roll. The process is intended to reduce errors and help prevent eligible voters from being inadvertently excluded.
The review includes entries associated with absent, shifted, deceased and duplicate voters. These cases require verification under the applicable election procedures before decisions are made.
How Can Voters Check or Add Their Names?
Residents should check whether their names appear on the electoral roll and verify that their personal and polling details are correct.
Eligible citizens whose names are missing can apply for inclusion using Form 6. Applications are subject to verification by the election authorities.
Voters can use the official Election Commission of India Voters’ Services Portal to search the electoral roll and access voter services: https://voters.eci.gov.in/
The review is part of efforts to improve the accuracy of electoral records and ensure that eligible voters are included in the electoral roll.
