Visakhapatnam Port Authority is set to open the new Vizag Port Promenade for the public next week, adding another major tourism attraction to Visakhapatnam’s growing waterfront infrastructure.
The 600-metre-long Port Promenade has been developed near the International Cruise Terminal and will allow visitors to experience live port activity up close in one of India’s busiest ports.
Tourists and residents visiting the promenade will be able to witness real-time maritime operations including massive ships berthing at the harbor, tugboat movements, container handling activities, giant cargo cranes in operation, and other port logistics activities.
One of the unique highlights of the Vizag Port Promenade is that it operates alongside a fully active commercial port. The Visakhapatnam Port handles nearly 2500 ships annually, making the experience different from a regular tourist waterfront destination.
The new promenade is expected to strengthen tourism activity in Vizag while showcasing the city’s maritime importance and port infrastructure to visitors. With cruise tourism, beach tourism, and waterfront development rapidly expanding, Visakhapatnam continues emerging as one of India’s leading coastal tourism destinations.
The development also aligns with the broader efforts to improve public access to key waterfront zones and enhance tourism infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh.
