CM Reviews Visakhapatnam Economic Region Development Plan

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the Visakhapatnam Economic Region (VER) development plan on Thursday and instructed officials to prepare a comprehensive master plan for the region’s overall development.

The proposed Visakhapatnam Economic Region aims to transform North Andhra into a major industrial and economic hub by attracting ₹9.5 lakh crore in total investments.

According to the proposed roadmap:

• ₹3.5 lakh crore investment is expected from the Government.
• ₹5.5 lakh crore investment is targeted from the private sector.

The Chief Minister emphasized creating world-class infrastructure and strengthening the region’s industrial ecosystem to generate employment and accelerate economic growth.

Priority Sectors

The development plan will focus on several high-growth sectors, including:

• Artificial Intelligence (AI) Data Centre Ecosystem
• Port-led Industries
• Tourism
• Green Hydrogen
• Clean-Tech Energy

Officials were also directed to prepare a long-term strategy to position Visakhapatnam as a leading investment destination in India.

Mulapeta to Rajamahendravaram Development Corridor

A major highlight of the plan is the proposed development corridor from Mulapeta Port to the Rajamahendravaram Akhanda Godavari Project.

The corridor is expected to improve industrial connectivity, logistics infrastructure, manufacturing opportunities, and regional economic development across North Andhra.

The government believes the Visakhapatnam Economic Region will become one of Andhra Pradesh’s biggest growth engines over the coming years, attracting global investments and creating large-scale employment opportunities.
